Ha haaaa. I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you're going to be able to handle not being able to give out groans anymore once the EF closes. You're probably going to experience some withdrawal symptoms!

EF ran for it’s first years without groan/thank buttons. Also there were no red/green blobbies. But what there was, was a massive amount of hard work tailoring questions and editing answers to make EF a useful resource. I remember asking Mark how we were going to handle matters when we exceeded a page of new posts in 24 hours.
EF was overtaken by a need to get more out of the forum than useful info on living in Switzerland, and was trampled over by its own success…

You are hilarious Tom
I was sure I saw a 'like' button yesterday, and I think a dislike button too?
I'm sure our lovely new mods are still learning their way around this new world.

I think we decided yesterday as admins, etc. that we definitely don't want a "groan" or dislike function on here, as that just seems to cause problems on the old EF and doesn't really serve a good purpose. Maybe the "like" feature was removed as well. As a current admin, I'd like to see this play stay positive and none of the toxicity from the old forum be carried over onto here. This should be a place that people enjoy coming to rather than a place that angers them or stressed them out. XX

As mentioned on EF, for now there is no dislike or groan button. It caused so many problems there, so I think we should try going without on here for now. Subject to change, you never know.

We do have the Thanks button activated now, though.
And lots of emojis. Like this guy, who clearly needs to cut back on the caffeine in his life:

I understand the decision for dismissing the groan button idea BUT I do enjoy reading spicy discussions. It's one reason why I return to these type of forums.

I was also looking for the groan button, but I knew that somebody else would ask about it long before I did!
